einar is the kind of man who can build anything you could possibly think of fuelled on red bull and two hours of sleep, but put one minor inconvenience in his way and he will act like he's been sentenced to death. born into money and drama, he is equal parts prodigy and walking tantrum. petulant, proud, and perpetually over it, institutions bore him and he has no real need for anyone to tell him he's brilliant (he knows) but he prefers environments where you tell him anyway. god forbid someone doesn't immediately understand that he's brilliant. rude? absolutely. spoiled? truly. but underneath the theatrical sighs, he harbours a soft spot for the tragic, misunderstood, or anyone serving just enough to be interesting. but while he's more than willing to sympathise with any so-called villain, he prefers to remain neutral, often criticizing both sides while refusing to pick one. his life is a performance, and so his allegiance is always a question mark.

History

Irish twin. andreas and marit forsberg. paternal grandparents. former TEA innovators who agreed with caelan marr's thinking. defected around the same time marr did, though they stopped short of becoming time bandits themselves (according to the evidence).

einar was born into old, old money, and a legacy of TEA that his parents wanted to forget. his grandparents, loyal to caelan marr, had left in the defection; not to join him, but at the very least to show their support. einar was the youngest born to the de vaux-forsberg couple, an unexpected "accident" born shortly after his older sister bella, and from the start, he was wrapped in luxury and indulgence. he was expected to excel, and to never join the research centre that was his family's greatest source of shame.

his school days were spent in the best conditions life had to offer, and summers were spent on the vast family farms in southern sweden. his mother indulged him heavily all the while and unlike bella, he was deeply, deeply spoiled. as someone who enjoyed the maintenance, it was never considered to be a chore and so when he showed an early fascination with how things worked - dismantling clocks, bikes, and gadgets (essentially anything he could get his hands on) - it was not a surprise and his parents indulged his curiosity all the more, providing him with all the resources he needed. he wasn't going into time travel. academically, however, he was expected to thrive: he studied at the Institut auf dem Rosenberg in switzerland and slacking was not an option.

and it wasn't that he did slack, actually. his academic prowess led him to mechanical engineering at stanford university, and when he graduated with honours he moved onto MIT for his masters. and then he got bored. he was not his parents, not his sister. his personality didn't lend itself to the environment and he was restless. by the time he was in the first year of his phd, privately funded by his family, the rigidity of academia was suffocating him. he called bella constantly to complain. eventually, he dropped out, wanting more time to build and less time to theorise.

still eager to work at the top of his game, he did secure his internship at CERN regardless, always slightly suspicious it was through his father but not at all willing to look a gift horse in the mouth. he gained the experience he wanted, and was doing well with the advanced machinery they let him get his hands on, avoiding any paper-writing like the plague. but bella asked more questions than he did, the perpetual fence sitter, and that was his almost-twin, his best friend. when she got her funding, einar was offered a place to work with complete freedom, and no boring academia to invest in. that was her job. he accepted.

and when bella was approached to join TEA, her prototype designer/beta tester and younger brother was her non-negotiable. thankfully he had his own skills to back it up. so he's spent the last few years covered in grease and oil, living his best life, and harbouring... opinions, on what went down between the time bandits and TEA. but hey. he's an innovator. he doesn't have to deal with them. he just works on the ships.
